Shop Intern

Advanced Compressor Technology (ACT) is seeking a Shop Intern and Helper. This role provides hands-on support to machinists, mechanics, and shop personnel in a precision manufacturing environment. This entry‑level role is designed for an intern student seeking practical experience in machining, mechanical preparation, and general shop operations. The intern will assist with machining setups, basic CNC production tasks, component preparation, and light assembly work while learning core principles of tooling, safety, and quality control.

The position offers a flexible after‑school schedule during the academic year and full‑time availability during summer months, supporting daily workflow needs and contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient shop environment

Primary Responsibilities 

• Assist machinists with setups and provide general manufacturing support.
• Operate pre programmed CNC machines for light production tasks under supervision.
• Learn and apply precision tooling concepts and quality control processes.
• Support mechanics in preparing components—such as cylinders—for machining.
• Perform light assembly work under the supervision of machinists or mechanics.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment, including basic housekeeping tasks.
• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a positive, productive team atmosphere

Work Schedule

• Approximately 2–3 hours per day after school, except Tuesdays (unavailable).
• Full shop hour availability on non‑school days.
• Full‑time hours during summer until departure for college.
• This schedule is designed to provide consistent, flexible support during daily operational peaks while accommodating the student’s academic commitments.
