Our Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, results oriented Area Sales Manager, reporting to our Head of Sales, based in our site in Landvetter, near Gothenburg.

As part of our team in Sweden, working alongside colleagues in the UK and Denmark, this role will drive the delivery of the Burckhardt sales strategy in our North West Europe area, leading on new business opportunities and developing and extending close relationships with existing customers and suppliers, ensuring all sales activities in your area are carried out with a strong technical and commercial focus.

 

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Drive the implementation of the BC strategy on market level, including:
    • Actively prospect new potential customer relationships and seek new opportunities
    • Maintain understanding and awareness of developments in the relevant markets; identifying business opportunities as well as market threats
    • Build and maintain effective business relationships with customers (compressor end users, contractors and consultants) as well as industry and professional bodies and other influencers
    • Take ownership of customer account management for a defined group of customers
    • Actively promote and sell BC digital portfolio 
    • Identify appropriate marketing chances, exhibition and customer event or relevant association to promote sales and participate
    • Actively promote Voice of customer survey to secure high customer participation rate and ensure actions are put in place to increase the customer satisfaction
  • Prepare scope and specifications for budget quotations as well as final technical / commercial quotations including follow-up to receipt of order or lost opportunity
  • Handle the negotiations for commercial terms taking into account financial and technical criteria in compliance with BC Group regulations
  • Responsible for implementing & developing sales objectives and strategies for all BC Group Services products related to BC compressors and Other Brand Compressors (OBC) in the area
    • Establish an account plan for existing customers
    • Establish the implementation plans for Services Sales
    • Timely preparation of weekly/monthly reports and forecast including
    •  Achieve sales target according to Company MRP and Annual Forecast/Budget and develop weekly/monthly sales plan
  • Coordinate and support sales engineering tasks 
  • Ensure that high standards of customer support is provided and continually seek to ensure reliable cooperation and collaboration
  • Ensure that all business activities are conducted in accordance with statutory and company policies and procedures, including IS09001 quality assurance standards.
  • Effectively handover sold projects to operations project management team
  • Maintain CRM (and ERP) data and records
  • Prepare presentations, planning documents, specifications as required in sales opportunities
  • Participation in internal specialist groups and projects
  • Support senior management as requested including other tasks as determined by them

 

This role will also require:

  • Customer service focus and market oriented in industrial B2B markets (Petrochemical, Chemical and Refinery industries, Industrial Gases, Transport & Gas Storage industries, onshore and marine)
  • Enhanced communication and business negotiations skills (technical and commercial) in cross cultural environment
  • Trustworthy, proactive, self-disciplined, results oriented, decisive and loyal personality
  • Ability to work in difficult situations, and perform under time and workload pressure
  • Skilled in Microsoft software portfolio (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Skilled in management of CRM (and ERP) systems or equivalent; High quality records management, detail and accuracy
  • Basic knowledge of contract law desirable
  • Willingness for frequent domestic or international business travel

 

To qualify for this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/engineering educational background with commercial knowledge (can be compensated by experience)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Services sales
  • Experience in an international work environment
