Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coordinate, and assign work to Field Mechanics.
- Assist with scheduling field service activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely customer response.
- Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training.
- Conduct competency assessments, refresher training, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure effective communication and continuity between shifts and projects.
Field Service & Technical Support
- Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, overhaul, install, and remove compressor equipment in the field.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble components while ensuring proper alignment, balance, and tolerances.
- Remove, rebuild, clean, and install compressor rotors.
- Replace, rebuild, and install gearboxes and related mechanical components.
- Inspect bearings, rotors, clearances, and other critical compressor components.
- Perform compressor repairs, including mechanical seal removal and installation.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and communicate recommendations to management.
Safety, Quality & Documentation
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure technicians maintain compliance with safety and operational requirements.
- Complete field service reports, performance logs, quality documentation, and training records accurately.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with ACT's quality management system.
- Conduct quarterly and annual employee assessments to ensure technical competency and compliance.
Customer Support
- Advise customers on equipment conditions, necessary repairs, and preventative maintenance recommendations.
- Build strong customer relationships through professional service and technical expertise.
Qulifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading field service personnel.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the petrochemical, compression, rotating equipment, or related industrial industry.
- Proven experience servicing centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
Technical Requirements
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of compressor maintenance, rotor rebuilding, gearbox repairs, and mechanical seals.
- Knowledge of quality management systems.
- Basic mathematics and measurement skills.
- Comfortable using computers and electronic documentation systems.

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Representative to join our Field Service team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned mechanical professional with extensive experience working on reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, large diesel engines, or other heavy rotating/mechanical equipment. In this role, you will provide advanced technical support at customer locations, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, perform major repairs and overhauls, and serve as a senior technical resource for other field service personnel.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Field Service Representative, you will:
- Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, and overhaul of reciprocating and centrifugal compressors and associated equipment.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and equipment performance issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform compressor inspections, measurements, alignments, adjustments, and component replacements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, equipment manuals, specifications, and service procedures.
- Use precision measurement instruments, specialty tools, and diagnostic equipment to verify equipment tolerances and operating conditions.
- Inspect compressors and components for wear, damage, and nonconformance and accurately document findings.
- Serve as a senior technical resource during complex service assignments and major equipment overhauls.
- Provide technical guidance and field support to Field Service Representatives and other service personnel.
- Coordinate field activities with customers, supervisors, project personnel, and internal departments.
- Clearly communicate equipment conditions, technical findings, repair recommendations, and job progress to customers and management.
- Complete service reports, inspection documentation, timesheets, and expense reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and other assigned assets.
- Follow all company, customer, and site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment.
- Represent the company professionally while working at customer locations.
- Work independently with limited supervision and exercise sound technical judgment in field environments.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong mechanical background with experience servicing, repairing, troubleshooting, or overhauling heavy mechanical equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of reciprocating compressors, compressor components, and related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues.
- Experience using precision measurement instruments, specialty tools, and mechanical diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and service documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Ability to provide required personal hand tools as directed by Operations Management.
Preferred:
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in field service, compressor maintenance and overhaul, large diesel engine repair, or heavy mechanical equipment.
- Vocational or technical school certification or an Associate Degree in a mechanical or related technical discipline.
- Direct experience with reciprocating and/or centrifugal compressors is highly preferred.
Travel & Work Schedule
This is a hands-on field service position that requires travel to customer locations based on operational needs.
Candidates must be available to:
- Travel and remain at customer locations for the duration of field assignments.
- Work extended hours and overtime as required.
- Work weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments when business needs require.
- Work 10-12 hour days, which are typical during field assignments.
Physical & Work Requirements
This position works in industrial and customer-site environments and requires the ability to:
- Perform the physical labor necessary to complete field service assignments.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques and procedures.
- Stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, balance, push, pull, and perform overhead work.
- Safely use tools and mechanical equipment in industrial environments.
- Use appropriate fall protection when required.
- Wear required PPE and respiratory protection, including SCBA, air-purifying respirators, and particle masks, when job conditions require.
- Maintain necessary vision capabilities for performing detailed mechanical inspection and field service work safely.
