Main responsibilities and tasks:

The SAP Basis & Authorization Consultant / Solution Architect provides strategic and operational leadership for the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Burckhardt Compression's SAP technology landscape, covering SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, and related digital platforms. The role combines expertise in SAP Basis operations, authorization governance, license optimization, cloud architecture, BTP integration, migrations, and enterprise platform lifecycle management to deliver secure, compliant, resilient, and business-aligned SAP services while supporting the organization's digital transformation roadmap.

• Set up, configure, administer and maintain SAP ECC systems across development, quality, production and supporting environments.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of SAP ECC technical setup, system architecture, profiles, clients, background processing, connectivity, monitoring and operational controls.
• Design, maintain and govern the SAP ECC role and authorisation matrix aligned with business processes, segregation-of-duties requirements and least-privilege principles.
• Design and manage SAP S/4HANA authorisations and FUE-aligned role concepts, including business-role mapping, user classification, licence-consumption visibility and governance.
• Own SAP licence management, including user classification, role-to-licence alignment, utilisation review, audit readiness and optimisation recommendations.
• Provide SAP Private Cloud setup and maintenance knowledge, covering environment readiness, connectivity, operations, security, monitoring, availability and service-provider coordination.
• Lead SAP Basis and authorisation workstreams across implementations, upgrades, migrations, rollouts and support transitions.
• Troubleshoot SAP ECC application and SQL database issues, including performance, jobs, work processes, interfaces, locks, dumps, logs, connectivity and database dependencies.
• Configure and secure RFC destinations for third-party integrations, including certificates, technical users, network dependencies, authorisations and interface testing.
• Own SAP landscape and transport management, including routes, queues, approvals, sequencing, import controls, retrofit coordination and audit evidence.
• Plan and execute support-pack, SAP Note, patch and kernel updates with prerequisite checks, testing, rollback planning, downtime coordination and post-change validation.
• Perform tool and application compatibility assessments before upgrades, patches, migrations and platform changes, covering interfaces, add-ons, agents, jobs and dependent systems.
• Guide SAP BTP connectivity, identity, integration, extension and operational requirements in alignment with enterprise standards.
• Identify practical AI opportunities for monitoring, incident analysis, licence optimisation, security review and operational automation while ensuring responsible use.
• Plan and govern technical and data migrations, including readiness, sizing, mock runs, cutover, reconciliation, hypercare and handover.
• Apply structured change management and ITIL practices across incident, problem, change, release, service-level and continual-improvement processes.
• Understand hyperscaler concepts relevant to SAP workloads, including infrastructure, networking, identity, security, resilience, backup, monitoring, scalability and cost awareness.
• Lead and coach SAP Basis and authorisation team members and partners; manage priorities, quality, risks, knowledge transfer and delivery commitments.
• Build trusted relationships with business process owners, auditors, security teams, Group IT, Enterprise Architecture, vendors and senior stakeholders.
• Prepare architecture documents, role concepts, operating procedures, decision papers, roadmaps, status reports and executive-quality PowerPoint presentations.
• Apply strong analytical problem-solving to identify root causes, assess risks and drive issues to sustainable closure.

Education, Experience and Languages:

• B.Tech. / B.E. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related discipline.
• 9-10 years of relevant SAP Basis and Authorisation experience, including technical architecture, implementation and operational leadership.
• Strong SAP ECC system-setup, administration and lifecycle-management knowledge.
• Strong SAP ECC role-matrix and business-process authorisation knowledge, including segregation of duties and least privilege.
• Hands-on SAP licence management and SAP S/4HANA FUE-based role and licence-matrix management knowledge.
• SAP Private Cloud setup and maintenance knowledge, plus experience with SAP implementation in Public Cloud and/or Private Cloud.
• At least 2-3 SAP implementation experiences in ECC and Public Cloud and/or Private Cloud model and at least 2 SAP support experiences.
• Hands-on SAP ECC SQL database and application troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with RFC setup for third-party integration, SAP landscapes, BTP, AI use cases, change management, data migration and transport management.
• Hands-on experience with support-pack updates, patches, kernel updates and tool/application compatibility checks.
• Practical understanding of at least one hyperscaler environment and its relevance to SAP workloads.
• ITIL certification with demonstrated application of service-management principles.
• Proven team-management and stakeholder-management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication, analytical thinking and PowerPoint storytelling skills.
• PMP certification or equivalent formal project-management certification.
• SAP Activate Methodology certification.
• S/4HANA, BTP, cloud architecture or hyperscaler certification.
• Experience with S/4HANA transformation, RISE with SAP, clean-core principles, trade-compliance modernization and application rationalization.
