Career opportunity with Burckhardt Compression
We are looking for experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQAE) at GSC to strengthen our team in Pune
Main duties of the function
The aim of this position is to monitor the Quality of products delivered to Burckhardt Compression entities across (BCx) by its suppliers. Based on this monitoring the SQAE suggests and implements improvement plans together with the suppliers and BCAG technical experts to minimise the Quality Costs for BCx and maintain the Quality of Products as required by Burckhardt Compression Group:
- Monitor and analyse the deviation reports for parts supplied by suppliers to detect trends and necessary actions
- Define action plan for quality improvement (reduction of deviations) together with suppliers, technical experts from our HQ (Burckhardt Compression AG, Switzerland) and Operational excellence as required and monitor the same
- Conduct regular supplier audits (QMS / EMS / OHS / Process / Special Process) at suppliers as part of Quality improvement and monitoring
- Support Business Development group of Global Supply Chain Development in auditing and approving new suppliers in the global supplier market
- Support local “Operations” in QA & QC related matters
- Train and support Audit pool in BCx
- Support to Head of Global Supply Chain Development in Supplier Performance appraisals & Qualifications
The SQAE will report functionally to the Global Supply Chain Development and will be physically located in the GSC, Pune to facilitate close corporation within both functions. The administrative (personnel) reporting of the SQAE will be to the Team Lead QA, GSC, Pune
Education/ experience
- Completed education in Mechanical Engineering (BE / DME)
- BE with Min. 8-10 years of experience or DME with min. 10-15 years of experience in field of quality assurance.
- Experience related to supplier development – specifically casting, forging, machining
- Knowledge of country-specific regulations (ATEX; DGRL; MRL; GOST)
- Knowledge about working with classification societies (DNV, GL, Lloyds, ABS, RINA, BV)
- Knowledge of destructive / non-destructive material testing
- Knowledge of norms and standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 etc.)
- Good PC skills for MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Knowledge of SAP (QM, MM) and WAY – (desirable)
- Advanced technical training (e.g. mach. technician, quality assurance) – (desirable)
- Experience in Quality Control (measurement technology) – (desirable)
Language skills
- Command of written and spoken English
- Knowledge of German language will be added advantage
Special requirements
- Social and a team player with open, positive thinking, assertive and able to work independently
- Willingness to travel (ca. 20-30%)
- Soft skills to work in Matrix and Global organisation

- Quality performance of suppliers (Avoidance / minimisation of Q-Costs)
- Deviations and Deviation costs for supplier delivered parts
- Supplier audits for process improvements at existing suppliers & qualification of new suppliers
