The Product Engineer will understand and apply the operational parameters and the processes of the respective compressor system, understand local engineering codes, practices and standards, as well as apply BCUS standards and QA requirements. Provide engineering support in the development of new products and compressor components.

 

Contribute to the success of the company:

  • Responsible for design and functional confirmation of the manufacturing processes and components in accordance with design specifications.
  • Ensure efficient project handling in conformity with customer requirements together with the production of documents contractually specified for delivery.
  • Preparation of technical specifications for accessories, technical evaluation of offers, technical support in regard to project or product optimization in all aspects of reciprocating compression.
    • Including but not limited to performance evaluations using EngageRecip or OEM optimization software.
    • Direct Engineering and technical support at the sales and operational level
  • Support or directly execute the engineering of compressor components.
  • Supporting the Account Managers and Operations Leaders during the offer phase.
  • Provide technical direction of the original OEM specifications or product improvements.
  • Assist supply chain with correct handling, receipt and storage of components for inventory and quality control purposes.
  • Assist with maintaining all new product technical requirements and documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing and shipping and to provide link between project management, suppliers and packagers.
  • On request from the project manager complete equipment data sheets and other documentation requirements needed for both operational and product support
  • On request from direct supervisors, provide technical support and/or expertise to colleagues in Engineering, to Sales & CSS staff.
  • To maintain project documents and electronic files
  • Report to the direct supervisor and/or management any deficiencies, potential deficiencies or non-compliance in connection with any actual or potential project within or outside the respective area of responsibility.
  • To understand and obey all safety requirements according to the company’s safety manual, and to report any non-compliance to the supervisor or the safety coordinator.

 

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in the field of Mechanical or Process Engineering
  • 3-5 years related experience with rotating equipment, reciprocating compressors, and/or related processes.
  • Machining or machine shop experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, API and ASME codes
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Technical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Team player, “can do” attitude, self-starter, and excellent people skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including MS Office, SAP, CAD, electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc

 

Physical expectations and working environment:

  • Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
  • Perceiving size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly the fingertips.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction, to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on equipment or machines.
  • Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
  • Moderate overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
  • Regular working hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00.
  • May require working outside of regular business hours.
