Field Technician Lead

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. is looking for an experienced Field Technician Lead to provide hands-on service and maintenance of gas engine compressor packages and associated equipment across multiple applications.
This is a working leadership role for an experienced field professional who is ready to combine strong mechanical and troubleshooting expertise with team leadership. You will supervise, support, and train Field Service Technicians while helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Day to Day, You Will Make a Difference By
- Directly supervising a team of Field Service Technicians and carrying out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies.
- Assigning and managing the field workforce while supporting performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, issue resolution, and other personnel-related responsibilities as required.
- Providing leadership, technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on training to new and less-experienced Field Service Technicians.
- Providing preventive and corrective mechanical service on gas compression, process, and production equipment at customer locations.
- Troubleshooting and repairing equipment, compressor packages, and related systems.
- Performing and supporting minor and major equipment overhauls and revamps.
- Calculating and interpreting compressor performance runs and utilizing OEM software.
- Setting, leveling, and aligning prime movers to driven equipment using dial indicators and laser alignment tools.
- Providing the labor, technical guidance, and coordination required for immediate repairs, major equipment overhauls, and operations.
- Identifying and addressing equipment, package, and plant inefficiencies or performance issues.
- Assisting with equipment start-up and commissioning activities with a broad understanding of applicable procedures and requirements.
- Applying proper purging and loading practices and procedures.
- Providing input to supervisors regarding personnel and material requirements to support effective job planning.
- Monitoring paperwork and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness throughout the billing process.
- Taking initiative and performing responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, project objectives, and controllable expense budgets.
- Providing 24/7 coverage as required, including occasional overtime and participation in rotational callouts.
- Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs, reasonable accommodation, or other appropriate circumstances.

- Recognize and comply with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and policies at each work location.
- Participate fully in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) program.
- Participate in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
- Immediately report all incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
- Participate fully in Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. and customer incident reporting and investigation programs.
- Participate fully in site-specific Emergency Action Plans.
- Maintain all required health and safety training applicable to assigned duties.
You Will Succeed With
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Vocational or trade school training or an Associate’s Degree preferred.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant field experience, or an acceptable combination of trade school or military training and related field experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing gas compression equipment.
- The ability to successfully complete the OSHA-required Respiratory Questionnaire process with a Licensed Health Care Provider.
- The ability to successfully complete a Respiratory Protection Fit Test with a Licensed Health Care Provider.
- The ability to complete and maintain Health and Safety training applicable to assigned job responsibilities.
- A valid driver’s license.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively lead and develop others.
- Availability for occasional overtime and rotational callouts.
Tools & Equipment Experience
Successful candidates should have working knowledge of and experience using applicable specialized tools and equipment, including:
- Dial indicators and laser alignment tools
- Precision measurement tooling
- Digital pressure measurement tooling
- Exhaust gas analyzers
- Digital volt and ohm meters (DVOM)
- Laptop computers and related OEM software and firmware
- Hydraulic torque tooling
- Gas detectors
- Colorimetric stain tubes
- Escape, rescue, and work-air packs or SCBA, as applicable
